Please Convince This Dell Laptop Owner To Buy Something Different!!!
As of now, the only laptops I have ever puchased have been from Dell. Could someone please convince me why a different name brand laptop is better?
It just seems to me that all other brands are so much more expensive.

Simple. Dell notebook batteries, along with Sony's and Apple's blow up.
Other than that, Dell's are built like crap. The reason they are so cheap is because they have a terrible quality shell and lcd display. if ur looking for quality look at the XPS series or the Latitude's, notice they are much more expensive than the Inspiron counterparts.

That is so ridiculously stupid I just have to hope you aren't really serious. A handful of Sony-manufacturered batteries for Dell and Apple have overheating problems (they didn't 'all "blow up") out of millions, and you cite this as a reason that someone shouldn't buy a Dell (or a Sony or an Apple)? Give me a break.

I'm generally just looking to hear from people who have a passion for a particular laptop brand that isn't Dell.
I have only purchased laptops from Dell. I'm curious to hear from some people that perhaps only buy Sony, or Lenevo, or HP and why they choose to only buy from them.

I have owned a Dell,Lenovo,Hp, and sony and dell wins.Sony is overpriced,supports terrible,and they use normal parts,your paying for the name.Lenovo is very good,very pricey though,usually for business people.Hp has very good entertainment notebooks,I would say that they would be better than Dell,but they are more pricier and there support is worse than Dell's.If you dont want a Dell,I would get an HP.

I hate people who hate on dell with no legitimate reasons. That just shows how ignorant and narrow-minded you really are. I have owned 3 dell computers in the past and never had a problem with them. I just bought the HP Pavilion dv2000t because i really liked the design and it had all the specs i wanted/need so i bought it and love it. With the student discount and there current specials I was able to get it for a reasonable low price too.

the battery is made by sony, the reason they explode more on dell is because dell wanted to squish more performance than it is safe to do so at current technology, and the battery management system seems buggy, and that probably dell trying to cut cost at quality control.

dell xps is the same as inspiron line except for the xps themed lid, lighting, and the option to have the 7900gtx GPU. DELL usually rush through the assembling process and quality control. they install loads of crapware and even spyware because they get paid for it. they use horrible display, they are just whitegood, boring, unimaginative brand, looking at their computer models says it all.

Ok, no rhetorical posturing here; this is my personal experience with Dell:
I bought a Dell Inspiron 5150. It died 1 yr., 2 mos., and 15 days after the purchase date. The motherboard fried due to inadequate cooling fans. This was not a heavily used laptop, nor did I leave it running for days on end.
The Dell I had before that had various hardware issues as well and I had a very hard time with customer service once the initial purchase went through.
I now have a Fujitsu N Series Lifebook and I love it. It was expensive but seems to be worth it. I will, regardless, NEVER buy another Dell.

Let's see... the only reasons I can think of switching would be style and quality. I owned a Dell XPS M170 and it was great. Dell has the best performance for the price. I'm a fan of change. I upgrade electronics all the time and typically go with a different manufacturer. Nothing's perfect but there will always be something out there that fits the majority of your needs.
