Some people argue that the 1800RPM difference cannot be felt, but personally, I have noticed faster bootup times, program load times, and file access times. Higher RPM drives have lower seek times which provides faster performance.

A big difference! Look at the difference between 5400 and 7200 in desktops. And between 7200 and 10000 in desktops.
Hard drives in desktops and notebooks have the same technology. If a disk spins faster, data's going to be read faster, which leaves you with only one result..

It really depends on what your doing with it... If your editing video files, the 7200RPM drive is the way to go, and you will see a good increase of speed. Games will also load a bit faster... But for the average user that just browses the net, plays music, DVD's chats, and uses word etc. You will not notice a difference at all in this. So, what will be using your notebook for?
