Question:
[Netherlands] Need some advice on buying a laptop
Hey guys, I started looking on this forum a few days ago when i made the decision to buy me a new study/gaming laptop.
I am 25 and just starting a new economics study, im not a very regular gamer but i sometimes like to play CS:source or MMORPG's.
After spending some time on this forum my eye fell on the asus W3J, but for me that is just a little bit too expensive. I then went for the a bit cheaper A6ja.
This is where i got some questions:
What is the real difference between the W3j and the A6ja, because the w3j is a bit more expensive but the A6ja seems to have better specs in my opinion? (bigger screen, bigger HD, more usb ports etc...)
That might be my lack of knowledge tho..
Is it worth looking at a T2300? Or is that a big step back.
Is it worth looking at for instance the Toshiba a100 (T2500) wich is on the same price as the A6ja and has a little better specs.
The one big thing that i kinda really want is the x1600 vid card. After all the reviews i read on this site i think that is a must have.
My budget is around €1400
I hope that someone can help me on this one and if i need to post more info on what i want please tell me. But i think with the example laptops i have given enough info on what i kinda want.

Another option for me might be a Compal. They seem to have good priced laptops with high specs. Anyone know if they are any good?

Compal is a great choice. The HGL30 (14.1") and HEL80 (15.4") are both great choices.
ASUS makes the A8Jm and W3J in 14.1". The S96J/Z96J and F3Jm are great 15.4" gamers.
HP nc8430 is another great 15.4" gamer.
Is Zepto available where you live? If so, take a look at the 2425W (HEL80), 6214W (14.1") or 6615W. They're all great gaming machines.

The Zepto 6214 seems to be the best fit for your needs, you can spec it up exactly how you like. I'd do a little more research on the Asus models offered in the Netherlands first because for some reason in the UK we get stuck with a 4200RPM hard drive even in the high end models like the W3J.
If you're looking for Compal models then the 2425 on Zepto's site is a rebadged Compal HEL80, I don't personally know of any other European retailers that offer Compal models.
