Question:
HP vs. Dell
Hi all,
I want a laptop to use at home for watching DVD's, Playing games, and use it as the main laptop. i got another business laptop so i want one for mainly fun.
i got 2 laptops in mind
1) HP Dv5191 (i'm in Dubai) it got dual core 2.0, 1 GB ram, 256 nvidia 7400 GO, plus the whole HP thing with the multicard reader lightscrip that writes on the DVD from outiside instead of the labeling. and it looks really cool.
2) Dell E1505 from Ebay. Dual core 2.0, 2 GB Ram, 256 AX1400 media center OS, and the rest of everything.
Which one you recommends if they are both within the same price???
Please be quick as i need to take decision in an hour maximum

Also forgot to mention, i'll hook the Laptop up at home with a Samsung 32" LCD .... so prefer to have DVI but not available in either

well, I would take the HP because it comes with all those nice multimedia options for DVD uses. I really want to get lightscribe! The Dell is great as well because it has the extra gig of ram, but I don't think you would need it, and the nvidia card is great to:) gl with your purchase mate!

for performance Dell is bettery but I like the screen on HP's laptop and they seem to run cooler. I would get Dell's but upgrade ram with newegg.com.

the hp is the better multimedia notebook with better screen and speakers. however, depending on what games you're playing, both have gpus that may be disappointing. i have heard that the lg s1/p1 is available there, and i think it would be a better notebook than both, though more expensive.

I have a dell e1505, and it owns my friends hp, though he as an x200 GPU, so there was no comparison. The only thing I like better about his is the remote that came with his is better.
The MediaDirect(dells) is better than HPs version.(use media with out turning on windows)

I vote HP, better build quality in my opinion, you pay a bit more though, also look better than the dells. :)

I'm sure not everyone is experiencing keyboard problem with hp, but this thread kinda worries me;

Unless you're a die-hard ebayer, I would avoid notebook purchases on the 'bay.

i would also vote down notebook purchases on e-bay regardless of seller feedback. Also, what kind of warranty comes with both? (that may be something to keep in mind as well).

you made me worry, i'm confused now.
I think i'd go with the HP locally available with 2.0 dual core, 1 GB ram and upgrade it to 2.0 GB, 256 MB video Nvidia.
Thanks all, but i hope i lose my ebay bid :) i really would hate to back up from a bid..... but it is 1400$ in the end
