Question:
Compare my desktop to a new laptop please!
I have a 800mgz desktop at home. It is an AMD that is comparable to a P3 with 256mg ram and a 60gb hard drive.
Lately I've been having problems with my desktop locking up and the harddrive has been recently replaced. I've been running, word, excel, internet explorer, outlook, and statdisk. By the time I add the last program it gets extremely slow.
I want to avoid this problem in a new laptop.
Can anyone compare this desktop system to a new laptop? What would be comparable?
Trying to decide whether to spend the $$$$ and get the nc6400 or just get a cheapy.

Anthing will feel lightning fast compared to that desktop.
Just get enough RAM(More than 1GB).

800mhz is very very outdated, the lowest you could get in a mainstream laptop would be about 1.5ghz. like the poster above me said, anything will be extremely fast compared to your desktop

I agree, even a cheapy laptop today would likely run circles around your current desktop. Make sure to get enough RAM though.

Thanks! I've been having continuing problems with this old system again this evening. It works just fine as long as it is doing one thing at a time. Through multiple programs at it and that's when the problems start.
Not quite sure yet what I'll be getting but will be purchasing something soon.
