compal hgl-30 vs dell m1210
ok so I have limited my new laptop to either a compal HGL-30 or a dell m1210. Battery life is very important since I will be taking it to class, but so is a good video card since I plan to play graphic intense games like oblivion, fear, half life 2, etc. Which notebook do you think is more bang for the buck and which is the better overall notebook. Thanx guys for all the help and input you have given. I will plan to buy one of these notebooks within the next couple of days.

^^^ word. The m1210 won't play games nearly as well as the HGL-30.

what about the fact that the m1210 has a better battery life and is more portable since it is only a 12in screen that ways only 5lbs.

That's where the tradeoff will be. The Dell specs say the M1210 gets a shade under 8 hours of battery life with 9 cell batt and starts at 4 lbs (of course I'm wary of any specs that come directly from manufacturer...). My HGL30 gets maybe 4 hours+ with wireless off and other power saving options. Powernotebooks also says it weights about 5.5 lbs. Of course, the Go7600 will outperform the X1400; so it comes down to what you prefer more.

definitely the hgl 30.
Keep in mind the orignal manufacturer of these machines is the same so youre sort of comparing apples to apples.
I tihnk the case of the xps 1210 is more durable but I cant really sell it on tech. 64 mb 7400 isnt even compatible with todays games. I sort of think why bother.
Every user is different.
