Asus S96J.

Re: cheap core 2 duo with potential super mild gaming...
For mild gaming I might suggest the E1505 with the x1400. The S96J is a more powerful machine but you pay for the power. Dell has some good deals with their 20% off coupon.
Personally I went for a E1705 because I needed the graphics power and like you, I am planning on keeping the machine on my desk. It's a great choice for the price too.

do you like the screen size, personally? as in, is it too big or just fine? the e1505 and e1705 both seem like a great option atm
