I've got $600.00 even.What can I get?I was looking at some Acers at www.saveateagle.com Are his refurb's any good?
I'am just seeking a good lappy to be able to upgrade as my money comes along.To be able to upgrade the harddrive,vid card,etc.
I'll be connecting it to a ethernet cable.And using it to replace my desktop.
My internet connection is T1.
Please,can you give me some places to buy from and a list of good upgradable laptops.Oh,I'll be buying next weds.

Compaq v5101us (15" widescreen) and the Latitude D520 are both great models. The Latitude D520 is discounted right now from $729 to $599. It's a great model with a 14.1" widescreen and a durable design. Both models are a bit hard to upgrade in the graphics department, but heck, these are some of the best models in the under $600 department. Dell has Intel Celeron M processor with integrated graphics while the Compaq has AMD Sempron processor with ATI integrated.

Also, if you're not planning on playing any games (excpet minesweeper), get the dell inspiron e1505. That has a core duo processor for multitasking and costs around $650 (discounted). The e1505 is the best deal with the dual core processor in my opinion, even with integrated graphics (option for dedicated, it'll cost you though). It all comes down on whether or not you'd want to fork out that extra 50 quid

VERY few laptops have upgradable graphics...I'd say get the best CPU and GPU you can, since upgrading those are either impossible or would void your warranty.
you can always upgrade the hard drive and RAM later without a problem.
also, with a T1 all you need is a 10/100 Ethernet connection...every laptop has that. Gigabit Ethernet isn't needed (10/100/1000 or 10/1000 as they call it)

I'd say the lower end HP's like the dv2000 or dv6000 are good choices.
