Question:
Imac or Macbook or MBP
I am going to use this new machine entirely for education which includes essays (printing them out) emailing them to school and opening on PC, powerpoints, I think I should get a Mac just because they are reliable and safer than PC's. But the question is which one to get? Imac (desktop) or Macbook, MBP? I don't think I will be using it out of the house THAT many times so Imac might be an option. The thing I noticed is that with configurations, Imac is only $500 more with much more HDD, bigger LCD, and faster CPU (64-bit) which will help with future needs such as leopard or vista. So what do you think guys?

I think you should stop spamming up the boards, and stick to a single thread. ;)

Re: Imac or Macbook or MBP
i think u need to figure that out ur self :). i myself are in similar situation. i'm mostly a pc user, but use mostly mac at school. so now i decided that i should get the macbook for doing basic things, such as going to the net etc. and roam around using that computer, since it is easier to hook mac computer to other devices, and it feature some drop sensor, and if things go awry for the mac there is not much tragedy since it is not my main computer. and i'm planning on getting the (next generation) Qosmio next year when santa rosa and vista comes out, to use it as my main computer.
oh ur a student right? make sure u get 'education discount' and in any case the APP (Apple Protection Package), the included 1 year warranty is waaaay too short, minimal is 2 year, and with APP u get 3 year. Doubly make sure if u get the macbook or macbook pro, since laptop is usually subjected to more wear and tear, especially with the heat issue going around apple computer.

Macbook sounds good if you don't need it for games. Plus, you would be carrying it around easily.

Is macbook pro worth the upgrade from the macbook? I won't be playing THAT many games but will be doing some editing and video work (photoshop on windows, iwork). Other then the screen size and graphics, is there anything else in a mbp that is not in the mbp performance wise? The 2.0 on macbook vs. 2.0 on mbp will run the same rite?

Re: Imac or Macbook or MBP
I second the "I think you should stop spamming the boards".
Processor speed has absolutely no difference on different laptops, maybe just slightly (but not enough for you OR the computer to notice).
Since you're not graphics hungry, you don't need MBP.
By the way, wait a bit. The MacBook and MacBook Pro should be upgrading to Core 2 Duo soon, but don't get the first few batches; most likely they'll be full of problems, as with most computer companies.

Re: Imac or Macbook or MBP
why would you want a 64-bit core2duo? i understand that u wouldn't use processor demanding task. if u wan't core2duo u need to wait till santa rosa comes out; then u will see a big improvement.
