2) What size notebook would you prefer? 14" or 15" screen
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook? pictures, mp3, online, write paper, and etc
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk? take it to different places
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games? maybe sims
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? i'm thinking of maybe one of the PH pavillion or Dell inspiron
7) How many hours of battery life do you need? the longer the better
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person? no, i prefer it actually. I want to customize it.

Inpsiron 6400 with Core Duo would mop the floor with the single core Turion in both performance and battery life.

The HP does not offer WSXGA+. For $1500 you could get something like the ThinkPad Z61m which will offer much better quality. Good Luck.

I believe HP recently scored lowest in PC Magazine's annual reader survey of customer satisfaction with laptops. Dell was somewhere in the middle. The Dell also has far better battery life owing to its Core Duo.
