Re: hi i need help picking a laptop
Take a look at the ASUS S96J/Z96J and F3Jm, or the Compal HEL80. A little more expensive but worth a look is the HP nc8430.
Filling out the FAQ would help users give you more informed suggestions.

Re: hi i need help picking a laptop
The MBP isn't the best gaming machine. It runs hot, and alot of things aren't mac compatible, or have some struggles on it. I would vote on the HEL80/nc8430 that has been previously mentioned.

Re: hi i need help picking a laptop
I think for your needs and budget, you'd want to stick with a 15.4" system. You may even want to consider a 14.1" system for greater portability, especially if WXGA is a resolution you'd consider (you didn't specify in your FAQ).
The ASUS Z96J is definitely worth a look for you since you prefer a glossy screen.

Re: hi i need help picking a laptop
which screen would you recommend? it doesnt rally matter

Re: hi i need help picking a laptop
The screen is an important part of the notebook because you cannot upgrade/change it. What resolution screen do you use now?
WSXGA+ (1680x1050) offers a lot more screen space than WXGA (1280x800), so you can see a lot more on screen.
As far as recommendations go, the Asus Z96J is a nice choice, and I think the Compal HEL80 is well worth considering too - great battery life (close to or over four hours) and a lot of features for the money.

Re: hi i need help picking a laptop
which screen would you recommend? it doesnt rally matter Screen resolution and size is a very personal choice. I personally need something higher than WXGA--but it's fine for many of our users here. Take a look at your current screen and see what resolution you're running at. Consider the monitor's size too and that may give you an idea.
Going down to a local PC shop will allow you to see both 14.1" and 15.4" WXGA resolutions. I doubt you'll find WSXGA+ on display though.
