Acer vs HP

I finaly decided to buy a new laptop with £700 to spend and id like to know which one is better:

Im thinking to get an Acer one but not sure if Acer is a good brand? Any one had experience with them? Im sure that HP build to last but id like something more powerfull then GF6150GO also id like to know how AMDX2 performes against Core Duo?

Well 700 pounds= like erh what $1,000.00 USD or so, maybe alittle more, I would say that you should check out the HP line of customizable notebooks. You can get a pretty good pc with that much and only pick and choose what you will need/want. I never have liked Acer so maybe I am slightly biased. However I haven't really heard anything about Acer other than it's usually on sale at Walmart.
Oh sorry I forgot to add that you'd probably be better off with any Core 2 Duo over a Core Duo if you want something that will be somewhat fresh for a bit longer. The Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHZ VS Turion X2 2.0 GHZ well, my experiences have been that unless you do very CPU intensive tasks the Turion X2 is fine, however when the nose is to the grindstone with Audio/Video or multitasking the Core 2 Duo seemingly always comes out way ahead of the AMD Turion X2.
As far as a Go 6150, you can get up to the Go 7400 on a dv6000t, I love mine anyways and it is a pretty powerful GPU for such a thin notebook.

x1400 is ok... depends on the games... the acer is better than that specific hp for gaming... for regular everyday use the hp is better, but the core duo outperforms the amd x2 turions... less heat, less battery usage, and more powerful output per watt... i'd suggest an hp nc8430 if its in your price range, as this will be better than the acer because in my opinion i don't trust acer brand as they generally run hot and thus have more problems, asus and hp are better named more trusted laptops...

The thing is i wont be able to buy online and i have to order from that shop
so these two are the best i could find for my budget and I think its Core 2 Duo.
Yea ill be playing some games (mostly rts or rpg's).

Acer is good value but I too chose not to get it as I have questions about their quality.

Hp is a lot better then acer my brother had a lot of trouble with a cheap acer he bought at circuit city. Stick with HP or do your homework with acer and check out the model real good and return policy.

There is this which has a x1600 which blows the x1400 ou the water. Upgrade the ram to 1gig and you have a beast.

Very fast and a x1600 in a well made package. Really worth the extra £100 unless you wan to risk it with the zoo.
