A brief processor question-please tell me!

Question:
A brief processor question-please tell me!
Howdy all-
I've decided to purchase a Dell XPS M1710 laptop for my mobile gamming rig. It has all the bells and whistles: 2 gig sdram@667 MHZ. 100 Gig SATA hard drive @ 7200RPM, so on and so forth.
My question is which processor should i get: Core 2 duo @2.00 GHZ
OR
Core 2 duo @2.33 GHZ????
The 2.33 is $425.00 more than the the 2.00, other than that they are identical. Like i said this is going to be a gamming rig...is the 2.33GHZ worth it??? Do you think there will be any difference in my gamming performance?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!:)

in my opinion, you will not notice much difference between 2 and 2.33 and it definitely isn't worth $425 for the tiny boost of power.

Not worth it at all. The T7200 is the sweet spot, anything else is overkill. 4mb cache is what matters. You won't need nearly that much processing power in games anyways, and .33 ghz for $425 is ridiculous, not to mention barely noticeable. If you want to say you have THE best processor available, then get the T7600, but you will be outperformed in a few months's time anyways. So save yourself the $425 and stick with the 2ghz model.

Yep not worth the extra $425. Stick with the T7200.

Re: A brief processor question-please tell me!
the extra .33GHz is pretty much useless, and the price is basically buying another Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHz. Its not even "barely noticable", its not noticable at all. The most it can do is maybe give you some better PCMarks (barely 3DMarks because the GPU will slow it down) and count Pie faster on paper. Basically for gaming, anything over 1.8-2.0GHz is basically useless if its Dual Core because your Video Card is going to bottleneck it no matter what (all notebook GPU's are underclocked severly from their desktop cousins).
If you want good gaming, remember 2 GB Dual Channel @ 667MHz RAM and as good video card as you can afford. A 7200rpm HD will definitly help when you're just using your computer normally. Nowadays, there are rarely any games or software that actually take advantage of the dual core processors, so you won't have to worry about software maxing out your processor yet(especially with the Core 2 Duos).
