quanta sw1. you can get these as barebones or customize them on select websites. just google it and see what you can find. i'm considering getting one of these myself.

your best bet would probably be the hp dv2000t or compaq v3000 with the 12-cell battery.

I second the V3000 over the dv2000t, purely becuase you can get more for your money. I would also suggest looking at the Dell Inspiron E1405 as well.

Is IBM z61t a good choice if I can get it with employee discount?
Maybe I can get a bare bone system?? Anyone know how?

ThinkPad z61t would be a great option. The only disadvantage is the integrated video card but since you're not gonna play games...
