Difference between ASUS A8JM and W3J?
As the title says.
These notebooks seem pretty much the same, same processor, ram and video card (if i'm not mistaken), so whats different about them and which one would you choose?

A8JM = 7600go 512mb dedicated
= DVI Out
W3J = X1600 256mb dedicated, 256mb shared (turbo cache)
= Brushed medal (more sexy look)
= Bluetooth

but the W3J has svideo and vga out does it not?

Also, A8Jm has more ports, and has a integrate webcam (non rotating, but still nice) and is $300 cheaper. You can get integrated bluetooth on the A8Jm if you order from Portable 1, but it costs $100 more than the non BT one.
W3J def has VGA, prolly has SVid. DVI is mkainly for TV out, i think. My desktop has it, but I still use SVid wwhen hooking up to my TV.
I would choose the A8Jm because it is more practical, functional and is a lot cheaper.

The batteries have some differences too, A8jm has a 6 cell battery.
The W3J has an 8 cell battery.
Yet both have the same amount of Batterylife, but it depends on user settings too. (roughly 3+ hours)

DVI does make a difference if your a graphic artist and need absolute perfect clarity and colours. The average user will not notice the difference from VGA to DVI.
There are many articles regarding DVI vs VGA on the net, and many come to the same conclusion as above.
What will you be doing with DVI?
The big advantage of DVI is that it's a future proofing port, people like to connect bigger LCDs or HDTVs and etc, with it.

yeah I don't think I'll have much use for DVI but it's surpising that they came out with 2 models that are so similar..
makes my choice even harder now! i was so sure on going with the W3J..

well my choice would depend on how i used it:
as a dtr, i'd choose the a8jm because it will be less likely that i'd need a DVI. it also has a webcam that i'd need less when i'm running around with a notebook. lower build quality won't be tested when it's kept on a desk. and i'd care less about it not looking as nice. it also has more USB ports and i'll need more of it in a dtr than a portable.
for something i'd take around with me, i'd get the w3j. following the opposite logic i gave above, you'd understand. and the modular bay is good for being able to save me the extra weight of carrying an extra batt or configure it as an optical drive or extra HD whenever it suits me.

Well, for me, I would chose base on:
-Rule number 1: how many money you got? you got ~$1500, get A8jm, you got more update A8jm, and if you still got more...ah just kidding. But check your budget 1st. My case is my budget so I will get A8jm
-Rule number 2: do you want your Laptop to be stylis, if you do then go for W3j, if you dont then A8jm is good for you.
-Rule number 3:if you still can not chose between those two, check back rule number 1 :)
I think that both the laptop is good for moving around since they are all 14" laptop, they are design and built for moving around so it would be fine if you move them around, just dont drop them.
W3j have nice lid (very nice) but also pricey.A8jm have the same spec as W3j with less then $300.
FINAL word: final and most different come down to the lid: you like nice lid and you have the money then W3j are your, other, you have less money and like a powerful laptop A8jm is waiting for you.

hmm.. I think Catherine made a good point.. I guess I'll stick with getting the W3J
I've heard something about they're gonna send updated models sometime in mid-july... what will they update and will it be worth waiting for?
