Question:
Dell D620 vs HP nc6400
Title pretty much says it all. I have my choices narrowed down to these two laptops. I need a pretty basic laptop for office tasks, but it has to be portable and the price has to be reasonable. I also want something that is future proof for a few years and vista compaitble. I cannot decide between the Dell D620 and HP nc6400 as these both seem pretty similar. Any opinions?

I've had great expiriences with Dell, many people dislike there customer service, but they get the job done. HP I have only called once to ask about a price, and they were very helpful

I haven't tested out an nc6400 yet, but I have a D620 with me and it seems like a pretty good machine. I think it's a good machine for office tasks.
Build quality is good. The chasis feels solid. The keyboard is also very solid, much more so than previous generations of D series. My only complaint is the lack of a scroll key on the trackpoint.

If you are looking to pay less the Dell is probably the best option.

I need to order today, and I barely have read any reviews about the NC6400. I cannot decide. Really, the prices and options are about identical give or take. The main difference is the video card, x1300 vs Quadro NVS110M. Also, the nc6400 seems to be a little smaller, barely.

there is really no solid distinction between them other than price and video card. if you play games, you will probably get better performance with the x1300 b/c it is meant for gaming while the quadro is not.
