Question:
Excellent Idea!
I just thought of an incredible idea for me. I had to return my Dell Inspiron E1705 because it was too big for college. Now I will be purchasing the Asus W3J. There is a big difference between the 17inch screen and the 14inch screen. I really loved the 17 incher. That being said, I have a budget of $3000 to spend on a comp. So, I will be buying an Asus W3J with 2GB RAM, an extra battery and 3 yr warranty for $2178.60. Then, I will be buying a Dell 20.1 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat panel monitor for $367.20. Then, I will be buying the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3000 for $97.99. The total comes out to $2643.79 for all of that. This way, I have the portability of the W3J, and still have the BIG screen for when I'm in the dorm room gaming or something. Quick question though - will that Dell monitor work good with the Asus W3J? I know the W3J doesn't have a DVI port, but I am not a graphic designer or anything so I don't need a perfect screen. Will I be able to do what I am talking about? Thanks in advance and please let me know how you like my idea.

Re: Excellent Idea!
Well, if the flat panel monitor supports regular VGA, you should be fine... otherwise, you'll still be fine, since you probably have enough money to buy a VGA to DVI converter somewhere (not sure how this works, but it is possible)
And I think it's a great idea :)

seems like a great idea, but I am wondering if your budget is 3,000$ Why are you purchasing an e1705?

Re: Excellent Idea!
I'm not purchasing an E1705. I had bought one originally, but returned it because it was too big. Now I'm getting a W3J for around $2100. Then I'm going to get a Dell 20 inch flat panel monitor and a wireless keyboard and mouse. All of that comes out to $2600. It says so clearly in my original post.
PS - i just checcked and the Dell monitor does have a VGA port.

What about A8jm and 24 inch wide screen with WUXGA?
Dell 2407WFP is sooooo beautiful.

Re: Excellent Idea!
haha..yes thats true. however, a 24 inch monitor will be too big for my small dorm room. i think 20 inch is the ideal size. plus, the w3j is very beautiful too. thanks for the suggestion though.

Re: Excellent Idea!
As long as you get a DVI to VGA converter, it'll work fine

Re: Excellent Idea!
I don't even think I'll need a DVI to VGA converter because the monitor itself has a VGA connection.

Re: Excellent Idea!
Thats a very good idea!. My notebook will be hooked up to my 19" sony lcd most of the time. If you have such a high budget then go for it. I, on the other hand, will go sulk in a corner with half your budget.
Btw, I think MS has better wireless/laser desktops than Logitech.
