Averatec 7155-Eh1 or Emachines 4620???

Question:
Averatec 7155-Eh1 or Emachines 4620???
Hi All-
I have lurked for the last few days as I do my homework for the new laptop I will be purchasing. I have narrowed my choices down to the Averatec 7155-EH1 or the Emachines 4620. There is less than 50 dollars difference betwween the two, but in companring the specs there seem to be other differences that may be more important down the road.
I supplemented the specifications supplied by Walmart with specs off the arima website in making sure that I'm comparing apples to apples.
It seems that the two major differences:
screen size-the averatec has a 17 inch screen and the emachines has a 15 inch.
Screen type-the averatec is tft active matrix with a stated resolution of 1440x900, the emachines is xga/sxga/uxga with no stated resolution
processor number the averatec processor is a turion 64-Mt 30, the emachines is an Mt-32
USB ports The arima specs seem to say that there are 3 2.0 usb ports, the averatec simply says, "3, 1" there is no indication that these are all USB ports. I'd appreciate some clarification.
Chipset documentation The averatec indicates an ATI rs482M chipset, the emachines indicates a ATIRX480+SB400. What does this difference indicate?
Cache Memory The Averatech indicates that there is 1MB of L2 cache memory, the Emachines indicates base memory and VGA memory. Should I be concerned about this?
Lastly, there have been several posts reagarding the flexing of the averatec case. Has anyone had these types of experiences with the emachines case? I will be using this laptop to take distance classes. The machine build will probably tip the scale on which item I purchase. I'd would appreciate any comments one way or the other.
Thanks for your observations, comments and assistance

What is your budget? I believe that there are much better built laptops than the Averatec or Emachines. If you could post the FAQ, it'd help us both out.

Re: Averatec 7155-Eh1 or Emachines 4620???
1) What is your budget?
$850 dollars or less. I will consider new as well as factory refurbished or overstock equipment if the trade off is increased functionality
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
I would prefer a 15 inch screen and weight of 5 lbs.
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
The tasks I will be performing include wireless email and internet research from various locations, wordprocessing, creating powerpoint presentations with attached audio, editing still photos I have taken with a konica minolta z3 for upload to online auction(Using Infraview photo editor). Minor spreadsheet and database work. Constant synchronization with with school servers from various locations. Additionally, there will be times that I need to synchronize with my home desktop.
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
I will be taking the notebook to different places. Smooth functioning of the wireless interface is important
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
No games
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
I have a preference for emachines. I have had two of their desktop machines in the past and have always felt they delivered the maximum amount of value for the dollars I have spent. I've had no problems from either desktop. I've read goods thing about the 4620 on this site but have no experience with their laptops. The averatech becasue my second choice because of the office max price and the screen size.
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Battery life is not crucial 3-4 hours would be nice (time necessary for a cross country flight). I will usually have an electrical outlet or a car adapter available. Naturally, more is better, however it is my plan to be able to plug in when I need to work.
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
Not in the least. My last 3-4 pieces of electronic equipment have been purchased that way.

12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
