Dell E1405 vs. HP DV2000 vs. Compaq V3000

Question:
Dell E1405 vs. HP DV2000 vs. Compaq V3000
So after doing alot of research and getting opinions from people on the forum, I've narrowed it down to these 3 laptops. So I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on any of the 3 or if one was the clear-cut winner out of the group.
I also filled out the FAQ if people had other suggestions, but for now I think that I will be going with one of the 3 listed.
1) What is your budget?
Less than $1000
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
a. Ultraportable; 12" screen or less
b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen

3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
Basic tasks (word processing, internet, etc.)
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Would be taking it around
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
Maybe some older games, but not any new ones
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
No preference...just want a reliable durable laptop
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
At least 3
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
No
9) What country are you buying this in?
US

12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
No preference, but I don't feel that I need to spend extra money for the glossy screen
Build Quality and Design
13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Yes, I'd like it to look nice
14) How long do you want this laptop to last?
I'd say at least 4 years if possible
Notebook Components
15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 120GB?
I don't need much, but probably 60-100GB
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?
I'd like it to have a DVD-ROM, but doens't have to be a DVD burner

If you want something that looks nice I would stay away from the Dells. I personally find them quite ugly and cheap looking.
I really have no problems with hp/compaq. I'm a proud owner of a 3yr old presario thats still running almost like new.
You might be able to get a T60 also

The HP dv1000t is a worthy choice, and has better quality/design than a Dell. The dv2000 will cost you more and I do not think it is worth the premium over the dv1000.
