HP vs. Dell

Question:
HP vs. Dell
well, as everybody else has posted about im looking for a notebook, the four i mainly have my eyes on, are the hp dv6000, dv2000 or the dell e1505 or dell e1405, ok here comes the fun part...
1) What is your budget?
1 grand
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
probably main stream, nothing super small, but nothing huge 14"-15"
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
well i will probably have it for a while, so school, typical internet, traveling, watching movies, music (a good set of headphones would be nice, if anybody has any ideas for those) and some games, so i need a dedicated GPU, i am currently running a radeon x300 128mb on a dell e510, thats what i can play bf2 with medium settings on, so anything equal or better, nvidia or ati, NOT INTEL
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
well if possible i would prefer the higher capicity battery, for school
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
yes a few, old ones im not concerned about, and some new, bf2, maybe FEAR if it will run it, im not a high end gamer, im not used to playing with maxed out graphics and 1280 by 1024 res, just a simple medium graphics with maybe xga, as i said earlier i play on a radeon x300 128mb, about anything would be better than this, i manage medium settings on bf2, so anything equal or better would be awesome, i have no nvidia or ati preference
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
right now im looking at hp or dell, but if anybody has an idea for another one, im not 100% on dell, just need a place to see pics. of it and reviews
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
as many possible, i probably need around 3 if possible more for traveling
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
its not preferred but i dont mind buying online
Screen Specifics
10) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?
widescreen for movies
11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
xga is fine, for games i would prefer it, since im not used to WSXGA or anything super high, also this way i can run native res. and get good crisp picture and good frame rates ;)
12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
i prefer glossy, but not a big deal, either way is fine
Build Quality and Design
13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
kind of, i dont want a block, the hp looks amazing, the dell not so much... but its not bad to the point of me not getting it, i prefer the hp looks though, and im not completely set on hp or dell, those are just the ones i had looked at
14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
well i was hoping a while, i dont want to pay 400 bucks for an extended warranty, but im a freshman in highschool, im not wreckless i wont be throwing it around so that wont be a problem, if anything breaks ill replace it no problem, i can also update it later on if needed, and i want it to last until im a senior if not college, i plan to get it around x-mas, time to save up!
Notebook Components
15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 160GB?
40 is fine, i have a pc with 120, and 160 for media, so its not a big deal, ill mainly have a small music collection, games, and some documents
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?
yes, mainly dvd-rom, again, i have pc's at home with dvd-rw's, and cd-rw's not a problem there
ok, so in conclusion, a decent media notebook, under a grand, im not stuck on hp or dell, but those are just the ones ive looked at so far, anything with 1gb of ram, preferably dual core (amd or intel, single core is fine) definately a dedicated gpu, and a good battery, also some good headphones ;)
im up to any suggestions, thanks!!

anybody out there?

Re: HP vs. Dell
Since you do not want an Intel integrated gpu, the Dell E1405 is ruled out. Of the other 3, the E1505 has the best GPU, followed by the dv6000 and dv2000, on that order. The HP's have the better build quality though. So if you are really into gaming, go for the Dell. Otherwise, get a HP.

Re: HP vs. Dell
I think HP dv6000 is a good choice as well as it has X1400 which is suitable for casual gamers and of course it has better build quality over Dell and good looking.

Re: HP vs. Dell
The Dell Inspiron E1505 has the best graphics card out of the three, as stated by jetstar. But unless you really demand newest graphics-hungry games, the graphics card in the HP Pavilion dv6000t will be fine.
The HP Pavilion dv6000t gets my vote. Its design is much more unique and nicer than the Inspiron series, and its build quality is much more better than the Inspiron E1505.

the hp 6000 has the piano finish lcd lid and the back opening screen. speakers in the front and a remote, its even a functional ipod device.
Its cool, its the best selling notebook in the world. The dell e1505 is tired in this market place and seems overpriced to me even though it is still a little cheaper.

Re: HP vs. Dell
ok, how do you guys think the dv2000 gpu would do? for very light games, im not a devoted gamer, just typical games every now and then, the IGU in the 1405 is a big turnoff, but what about the 7200 in dv2000?

Re: HP vs. Dell
The Go 7200 is better than the X300 that you have, so probably you will be fine with it. Look that for more information.

Re: HP vs. Dell
As long as you do not plan on playing many future games with good graphics, the GO 7200 should be fine for you.
