Anyone waiting for Vista and hybrid drives before they purchase a new laptop?
Vista will be out at the end of January for consumers, but when will hybrid disk drives be out? Hybrid drives should increase battery life dramaticaly, should it not?

I'm guessing they might give you 15 extra minutes at most. However, it is supposed to dramatically help in loading times (especially if the OS code is stored in the flash memory...much faster reads).

I'm really imressed with the boot time on MACs, is it the same with linux.

I'm really imressed with the boot time on MACs, is it the same with linux. Depends on what you have starting with Linux and how you have stuff configured, but no, Linux is generally not known for ultra-fast boot times.

seagate hybrid is already on the market.
100 gb 5400 rpm costs $170
Although it will be very hard for you to find.
It wasnt described as being any faster but it said it used 1/3 less juice.
Go to seagate.com to look for it. It has already reached the market and sold out at like tigerdirect.com
