Question:
Advice on processor speeds please
Hi Guys :)
New here at this forum, looking for advice on a processor.
I'm planning on buying a laptop in a couple of weeks with 2gb ram, geforce 7950gtx, 17" wsxga 1680x1050 screen,100gb 7200rpm hard drive, but am undecided on a processor.
My options are all intel core 2 duo, but my grey area are the clock speeds. I'm choosing from 2ghz, 2.16ghz, and 2.33ghz.
Prices for these are as follows, the only variable in these is the processor, so you can see how much upgrading it is costing (this all includes vat/tax)ill show dollars as well as I guess most of you are from the US, me being from the UK.
2ghz £1545 $3040
2.16ghz £1745 $3435
2.33ghz £1895 $3730
I'm gonna be using this primarily for gaming, and want to be able to play a bit of oblivion on it, as well as all the up and coming titles in the future.
What i need to know is, is it really worth those price increases to get a faster processor? Is it going to be worth it in terms of fps in games?
Also if anyone who owns a machine like this, what kind of benchmarks do you get?
Any helps appreciated, thanks all :)

Anything above the T7200 (2.0 Ghz) is not worth paying for.
Would you pay 400$ for 0.16 Ghz? That's just ridiculous.

As stated, go for the t7200 (2.0) it'll be more than enough processing power for your needs. Gaming depends primarily on the graphics card, anyway.

Yea Right now a 1.83 GHz will even run most stuff. but the 2 GHz should be fine unless you have the money to blow. If you do go for the 2.33, since you probably would not even notice the difference between the 2 and 2.16 models
