HP NC8430 vs ASUS F3JA
what should i choose?
i know tah asus is better, but £70 more expensive. is there ane big difference between of them?please help choose the wright one.

Of these two I would go for the HP NC8430. There is not a significant difference between these two machines so I don't think it would be worth an extra 70 pounds for the ASUS. The HP is a nice laptop and should do well for you.

I really like the HP nc8430 actually and given the price difference there (almost $140) I'd go for the nc8430. Check out this review:
On a personal note, I really like to have a pointing stick on a laptop and the nc8430 has that. I believe that HP support in the UK will be better than Asus, but with Asus support can depend a lot on who you're buying from as well.
The camera is a nice to have on the Asus, but with the nc8430 you also get the media card reader, FireWire and S-Video so it's really about the same in terms of media ports minus the camera.
You can also get a docking station for the nc8430, I don't believe Asus offers those at all yet.

The Asus has a better screen (unless you like the matte type of the HP) and with it having XP Pro you get a free upgrade to Vista. It also has DVI output which the HP doesn't and I think it looks better.
Also according to the website the Asus comes with 2 years warrenty and the HP only 1 year.
So yeah I would get the Asus.

If I had the cash I'd get the Asus for the extra little bits and bobs it has and of course the build quality, not that HP's is bad.
Little difference in them really in terms of noteable hardware, althpough the Asus gets XP Pro instead of Home and a 2 year warranty.

Yeh its for the extra year warranty, free upgrade to vista and webcam you are paying the extra £70. Though those features may not interest you. In which case get the hp.

I agree with Grouse. If those features interest go for the Asus, if not the HP is a great notebook.
