anything better than a thinkpad x series

Question:
anything better than a thinkpad x series
My friend planning to get thinkpad X31 or X60. But before buying it, wondering if theres any laptop with a better build than these thinkpads...as well as a good battery life. Thinking of x31 just because since it is cheaper, spending the rest of moeny buying a few batteries can last throughout the whole day so. Don't mind buying used notebook from ebay or something.
can't do X40 because heard its not even good built quality of x31 and cost more so why buy that.
maybe xps m1210, asus w5f, msi s260....?

I think thinkpad x60 is the way to go. I think thinkpads are truely of highest quality especially when it comes to durability and portability.

Re: anything better than a thinkpad x series
You're not going to be able to get a ThinkPad x60 for less than $1200 anyway, so you will pretty much be limited to a used system.
Something like the HP nc6400 may work for you and you should be able to get a pretty decent configuration under $1200.
