Question:
HP nx7400 deal, quality, sound, brightness
Hello!
I believe this is a good deal (Core 2 Duo, $1000), but would like to know what others think.

My main concern in buying a laptop is that it should last 5 years at least. I will not be gaming, and will only occasionally need to travel with the laptop. I would also like a display that is bright (I have an old CRT right now) but do I really need 'brightview' or similar technology?
I have a question about sound quality as well. Though the nx7400 speakers may not be good, if I use external 2.1 speakers, will I be able to achieve good sound (especially bass)?
Any other opinions on the nx7400 deal would be appreciated.
Thank you

The HP nx7400 is an excellent notebook in terms of quality and durability. I really like that notebook.

Re: HP nx7400 deal, quality, sound, brightness
Best Buy sells the nx7400????? That's the first time I've seen a business laptop in stores...wow.
Regardless, here's a few of my thoughts:
1) Read through the nc8430 of mine, specifically the build quality section. The nc8430 and the nx7400 are the same laptop, and only differ in the choice of GPU.
2) Build quality is excellent on these machines. Even the little gripe or two in my review were not big deals, as I would never had seem them if I wasn't looking.
3) The keyboard is excellent.
4) All laptop speakers byte, but I've found mine to be okay enough for general use.
5) External speakers should sound a lot better. Even my 2.1 USB Speakers sound a lot better.
6) My laptop (similar to nx7400) will probably last 3-4 years without too much trouble and only a little care. 5 though...it might work okay, but the laptop will be slow compared to the new things out.
7) If you really want it to last that long, get an extended warranty through HP. The longer they go the better the chance of something going wrong.
8) Screen brightness is okay for indoor use (matte screen as well). If you plan on using it outside you might run into a little trouble. I usually run my brightness at 100% without trouble.

Thank you night_2004.
Thank you Dreamer.
I'm not sure what to think of Best Buy saying the savings on this notebook is $300 at $999.99 (in their flyer), when HP sells it directly for less than $1299.99. http://shopping.hp.ca/Cstoreca/BaseD...BEId=5&Lang=EN
Anyway, I'll be sure to check out that review night_2004!
