hard drive
This is probably a stupid question, but I'm gonna ask anyway. I just got my laptop, and I paid a little extra for the 40gb hard drive instead of the 30gb. When I look in my system information it says 33.6gb total (not free, that's only 29.1). I was wondering why that is, I know of someone that bought a computer and didn't find out till a couple years later that their processor wasn't the one they paid for, so now I'm just trying to make sure I got everything that I upgraded. u lose abit when formating and installing windows, my drive is an 80gb only have 74.5 GB free. You can not avoid losing the Capacity.

Hi Sublime. Once your harddrive is formated, it is always less than what they advertize. My guess is that it's probaly what you ordered, although it does sound a bit much to lose 6.4 GB out of 40 GB.

There may also be a hidden partition for factore restore purposes.
