Dell E1505

Question:
Dell E1505
I am looking at getting the dell 1505 with th core 2 duo 2ghz processor , 1 gig 533 mhz ram, 245 radeon x1400 video card and 80 gig sata hard drive. Will that work ok for gaming and video editing/ backing up my movies ? My budget is around 1200 so is there anything better than this dell for that amount ? Please help . Thanks JO

For the price, there isn't really anything better - the x1400 is a midrange card, not the best but will play games.

Re: Dell E1505
You might want to take a look at the dv6000t-it will be more money than the e1505, however, it will be a little sturdier and better looking.
The 7400 is ~ to the x1400.
You could fill out the FAQ, but the e1505 and dv6000t are probably your best bets in the price range.
You will be able to game on the x1400/7400--take a look at the GPU Guide.

Re: Dell E1505
yup your only bet is to get the dv6000t or e1505. BUT IF I WERE YOU. And have nothing against the looks of the e1505. I'd take advantage of dell's sell of the inspiron 6400
It's 649 dollars for very decent specs.
t2050 core duo, xp home , 1gb ram , 120gb hdd, 15.4 /true life, 128 ati x1300. All for 650.

Re: Dell E1505
If you want something better for around the same price take a look at the Asus S96J.
You can get a decent config for around $1200 and an even better one for around $1300.
It has better build quality and a more powerful video card (X1600 256mb) which is roughly twice as powerful as the X1400 and has an extra 128mb of dedicated VRAM.

Re: Dell E1505
I had a hard time choosing between Dell E1505 and HP Pavilion dv6000t. Both are good midrange when certain options are selected.
HP seemed more attractive, lighter, and had optional web cam. However it did not have an optional 9 cell battery - only 12 cell with a bump. Also the HP's Nvida 7400 GPU was rated "slightly" slower in speed tests than the E1505's ATI x1400 GPU according to one web site.
In the end, at the time I bought it 2 weeks ago (with coupons and discounts) the dell cost much less so I went with it.
