Any Sugestions?
I was think of getting the dell inspiron e1705 with these customizations:
- Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5200 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533 MHz FSB)
- 17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife
- 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
- 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
- 160GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
but its alittle out of my price range. its $1,538
and i cant afford that. my price range is around $1,000 to $1,250
Can anyone list a few laptops that have just about the same specs at the one above but for a cheaper price? All i need is a 17" screen laptop that can run almost any game in between medium and high quality setting. These are the games i play:
- Battlefield 2
- battlefield 2142
- F.E.A.R.
- Counter strike: source
- Counter strike
- Halo
- and alot more. lol

Unfortunately the Dell e1705 is about the best deal out there for a power 17" system. There are some great deals out there too, but in the higher price brackets.
Unless you're willing to go with a mid-range gaming system, consider dropping the RAM to 533 MHz and the HD to an 80 GB capacity. That will get you closer to your goal.

the x1600 or 7600go can run those games. you should check out the asus s96j or compal hel80. the hp dv9000t might be in that price range.

You might be able to find the E1705 with the 7900GS in your price range in theDell Outlet
If not, go with the S96j or HEL80. The 7900GS in the E1705 however, is about 1.5-2x the power of the X1600 / 7600.

As far as I know, there are no 7900gs for e1705 on delloutlet, they are all x1400's or intel.
samtree, the Dell is as cheap as it gets, other laptops with that kind of specs are usually around 1800 or more. That said, drop a few of the options ie no WUXGA, lower the HDD size, drop processor speed (which is not very important to Frame rates because the graphics card is always the bottlneck of most laptops) and you should be able to get the E1705 within your price range.
