Hello,
Trying to decide on two similar systems which I can get at roughly the same price and need your opinions, please.
OR Averatec N2370HM1E-1.

No one has any opinions at all? :(
I'm on a bit of a "while quantities last" time restraint here.

Tough one...I'd probably choose the Lenovo though. The Core Duo will get better battery life.

Re: Averatec 2370 vs Lenovo v100
Never ever ever get an Averatec. They are plagued by so many problems I don't know where to start. My girlfriend bought an Averatec...it lasted 1.5 years. After 1.5 years:
-the LCD screen had almost broke off its hinges...it was so close to falling off the screen flickered because the connection was being pulled loose
-the cheap silver paint finish had scratched off in many places because the loose screen had rubbed it off
-it was hot to the touch after running an hour
-the fan ran full blast all the time because it was so hot
-the battery failed after a year
the list goes on. Averatec is the worst computer ever made. I could hardly believe a computer could be built so badly until I saw it literally fall apart in front of me. Any other choice is better.

the Averatec 2300 series is a very good fully loaded system for the pricetag. It gets about 2.5-3 hours of battery.

PS dont' know if you're aware but Lenovo Canada is selling a V100 for only $800 right now.
Actually, if you follow that link, you will also see a T43 for $900. If you're only going to be using basic applications like you said, the power of that laptop should be just fine, and it is definitely worth the $100 for the upgrade to the reputed T-series.

Thanks for the replies thus far. I was looking for a 12.1" notebook. Although, looking at the weight, the 14" T43 is less than a pound more, I was really leaning to as small a form as possible.

Re: Averatec 2370 vs Lenovo v100
The V100 is quite a thick notebook itself...I'm pretty sure it's about the same as the T43 if not thicker. However, of course the T43 is two inches wider on the diagonal. It's your call of course, and the V100 is $100 cheaper, but I think the T43's superior build quality and comparable weight make it the better choice.
