HP nc8430 or ASUS V1

Question:
HP nc8430 or ASUS V1
) What is your budget?
2500
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
email, movies, gaming, spreadsheet programs, some work related issues but nothing too serious
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Always on the go
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
Not sure which ones, whatever seems like fun at the time
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
No
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Doesn't matter, I'll usually have it plugged in
I'm really looking for build quality and reliability since I travel around the globe. I have carried a 17" in the past for work and that'll never happen again. Other than that, I'm open to other suggestions.
Thanks

Re: HP nc8430 or ASUS V1
why dont you look into the HP nc6400 as it sports a 15.4" widescreen display if im not mistaken and has a good graphic card too which will be helpfull as u maybe gaming as you had mentioned earlier.....also look for a widescreen notebook as it would be helpfull for you as you will be doin spreadsheets its also a busineess class notebook therefore has a good build quality
have you tried the thinkpad T60 it too is one of the best out there and it too comes in widescreen versions for the 15" model and it too has a grapic card an ati x1400 which is considerable for gaming nad its quite light too all the best choosing a new notebook
Answer: well as great as the asus v1j is
If it were my money I think I would get the hp. As long as I kept the configuration low and the total cost low Id get it for $1500
Now, you have a large budget and I obviously think you would be happier with the v1j ie owning something very nice
It has some additional features as well most notably the 2 hd or 2 battery option. It also has for $200 a really cool dock I mean if you use a dock thats pretty nice. But this has some value to asthetics. Do you value asthetics for the tune of hundreds of dollars?
They are similar machines in the computer sense and are both well made and durable. the hp is actually smaller and easier to transport.
I think the perfect machine for you though is called the samsung x60. You would have to import it.
In the uk its around $1900 for the c2d x1700 model. I think with importing even its very competitive with the v1j and I would prefer it, I would spend the difference in your case.
It weighs a pound less and is made of "adamantine magnesium alloy"

If you are going to be taking it all over the place, perhaps a smaller notebook like the Asus W3Jp would be easier to take around? I think a smaller system would lend itself better to on-the-go use. Even the Asus A8Jp or A8Js would be options, but they don't sport the same styling as the W3Jp.
The Samsung stamar is referring to is actually the NP X60-plus I believe. Very nice system.

The Asus W3Jp is an excellent choice. You can also look at the Sony Vaio SZ series, since you are going to be taking your notebook with you.

oh ya well actually the samsung x60 weighs about the same as a w3j and is thinner and not much larger. But it has a 15.4 inch screen.
Its just a better machine but its going to be more expensive. I dont know how much more to even compare
In the uk it goes for around 2k and Id buy it instantly but by the time you ship it and if theres tax or whatever who knows what it would cost.
