I am going to buy my first notebook and I need some help which one suits best. I answered all the question. I would also like to have 2 GB of
RAM and nVidia gfx on board.
1) What is your budget?
up to 1200 - 1400 Euro
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
mainly 2D graphic (photoshop, illustrator, quark; files over 200MB), some 3ds max stuff (in future), some gaming however not very important, internet, movies, office applications
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Using as DTR.
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
yes, Pro Evolution Soccer 6, some emulation (mame, snes etc, no any 32/64 bit platform)
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Prefer rather Dell or HP.
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
ideally 2+
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
yes

Check out the HP nc8430 if it fits your budget.

Consider the Asus S96J and/or the Compal HEL80.

Thanks for suggestions. I've never heard of Compal?? Is it worth to but them?? Anything with nVidia GPU??

Compal HEL 80 is called Zepto Znote 2425W in UK and it's a great notebook.

I'll second the Compal HEL80 recommendation, it is a very solid machine and has a lot of unique features (webcam, fingerprint reader, extended battery).
Another machine to consider is the Dell Latitude D820.
