c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen

Daily office tasks, with some sound/video editing. No games.
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

No
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
No
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Not really important, but the more the better.
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
I don't mind buying online. But at this point I am limited to Best Buy ONLY. I received a fair share of gift cards to help cover the cost.

Somewhat. But if I can get better performance, I would prefer that.

Will be buying within the next 2 weeks. Would like to keep for next 3-5 years.

Thanks in advance for assitance in selecting. There are only a handful of computers within that price range at best buy. Most within that pricerange are eerily similar with a wide range in price differential. I greatly appreciate any additional input!

Check out the HP nx7400, which is an excellent notebook in terms of quality and support.

Look at the Dell Inspiron E1505 as well as the HP Pavilion dv6000 series.

While I appreciate the quick replys, neither of those machines are offered by Best Buy. Please keep in mind, that sadly I am confined to purchasing from Best Buy only.

BestBuy does sell the HP Pavilion dv6000 series, like , for example, although it is over your budget.
