Question:
Compal HGL30 or Asus A8Js
Well I am going to pull the trigger on one of these laptops soon. I just can't make up my mind on which one to choose. I've heard the same bad and same good about both so to me they are pretty equal. So I am guessing between the two its just personal preference. Anyone have any comments? Sorry if this is a repeat thread or such, just having a hard time pulling the trigger on either one.

Well, personally, I like my HGL30 a lot. Speakers are a bit quiet, but that doesn't bother me much.
People also like their A8Js too. I'd say it's a toss up...the HGL30 is more configurable, and has a few extras like a fingerprint reader. The A8Js is lighter, and has a more powerful video card. Decide based on which is more important to you. :)

Thanks for the words man. Speakers arent really a big deal, as long as I can hear a little its cool. And both graphic cards are a lot more then I'll probably need. Its a toss up I guess, not sure if I really like the HGL30 top color. God why cant there be only one choice, lol.

Yea take a look at the pictures, I too am trying to decide on a nice 14.1 lappy. The HGL30 is not very good looking (my opinion), I mean it IS supposed to be a generic whitebook laptop the A8Js seems to be pricer as well. Newegg has good pics of the A8Js and looking around for pics of the HGL30. Good luck and let us know what you decide and how you like it.

If the A8Js were more configurable, I would go for that one. Now I know you can customize with btotech, etc. but you end up buying extra parts and I object to that on principle.
I really like the HGL30 for a lot of reasons. It has just about every feature that the HEL80 has (which are quite a number), in a smaller body. I actually like that its lid color is a refreshingly unique shade--so that it doesn't just blend in with all the generic grey plastic notebooks out there.
I also really like the warranty you get if you buy the PowerPro HGL30.
