Question:
$3500 gaming laptop
I'm a poor man but have been saving and am willing to pay $3500 for a laptop (including insurance).
I want a laptop:
-with a 17", high resolution monitor
-to play every game currently available and soon to be available
-quick at Office applications and photography apps
-w/ Windows Vista
-for programming
-for light travel - battery capacity is nice but not crucial
-for all-purpose use - this will be my only computer
-as current technology-wise as possible
-w/ fast processor
I won't be purchasing until February. What's my best bet? Where should I look to buy from? I can wait another month if it's wise to do so.
Thanks so much. This is such an informative forum.

Hi, welcome to the forums.
If you aren't going to purchase a notebook until February, you might as well wait until then to get recommendations. As a matter of fact, it would be better if you waited until the Spring; Intel will be introducing its new Centrino Pro platform, with a host of new/upgraded technologies (faster processors, Windows Vista, hybrid hard drives, and more - just do a search on this site for "Centrino Pro" to get more in-depth info).
For right now, the Clevo M570U is your best bet:

Welcome to the forums.
I love the Clevo M570U (aka Sager NP5760 in these forums) suggestion. It's a high-quality, high-powered gaming system that offers excellent value.
You may also want to consider waiting for Santa Rosa as Chaz mentioned.

Sup, Agreed with above 2 posts...but wait until the new models come up before you decide. There might be some pretty cool SLi options with 12+ cell batteries coming up, and the new notebook hard drives that will be coming out will be a lot better.
AMilo Xi 1554 will also be very good when it is released.
imho: if your on a budget and want top quality get a desktop :)
