hp or mac

Question:
hp or mac
I am looking for a new laptop between $1000-1350. I've been told to steer away from sonys, dells and toshibas and have heard good reviews on HP's and mac's. I would like 1-2 gb ram. 100 gb HD. A good gaming card. at least 2mhz speed.. Has any body had any good experiences with the hp dv2000 or macbook??.. I dont know if i should get a intel core 2 duo processor or AMd turion 64 bit X2 processor. I plan on using it as a portable device
Please help me

==========
I am currently looking at the hp pavilion dv2000 but I am undecided of which processor I should get. I am hearing that the Amd 64 dual core x2 is better than the intel core 2 duo but am not certain. I want at least 2 ghz. 1-2 gb ram

Re: hp or mac
take a look at the dell e1505, the toshiba a100 (even though u said u dont want them, they are still pretty good), the hp dv6000t, and the lenovo thinkpad t60.
since you are considering gaming, i dont recommend a mac because, first of all, windows doesnt run as well on macs, and secondly, not many games are made for macs

Re: hp or mac
wow that will definately be a good computer then! itll be hard to get 2 ghz with 1-3 gb ram for $1000-$1300...
yeah i think the dv2000t is a good choice, also the dv6000t is a great one too... has a better graphics card, and its a little bigger...
for the processor, the core 2 duo is definately the best processor out there!
hope this helps!

Re: hp or mac
Well, the AMD processor is better with regards to price and is still a strong performer. Core 2 is better for overall performace potential and a little better battery life but it costs more.
For the budget as well as what you are planning to use the laptop for, I'd stick with the X2 unless you have a little extra $$$ to spare after you get all the other specs you want.
That being said, you may want to look for a better GPU in a notebook (the dv2000 has the nVidia 6150 IGP). Something like an nVidia 7400 or ATI X1400 would be far better than the 6150. If you can find a few posts saying the 6150 is sufficient for your needs you can just ignore what I'm saying here ;).

Re: hp or mac
yeah but the graphics card on the dv6000t is a 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 :D

Re: hp or mac
Something like the Compal HGL30 which has the 7600 go card might be worth a look. If you need portability, I'd stick to 14" or under.
