Any Sony versions of the IBM Thinkpad T42
I'm looking to buy the IBM Thinkpad T42, but am not sold on the all black color (I like silver) so I was thinking of looking at the Sony Vaios. Is there anything comparable to the IBM Thinkpad T42 that you can think of:

Based on specs, are there any laptops that I should be looking at other than the IBM T42?

I'd take a look at a Fujitsu S7010. Like IBM, they have very good build quality. Its lighter, but the screen is smaller. Also has the enhanced Crytal View screen. The top is silver although the palm rest and bottom are black. They start around $1400 on Fujitsu's website, but if you look around you may find a pre-configured one with a better price.

I agree with zanzonz here. Fujitsu offers good build quality and also offer a bit more than the black rather business like look of the IBM ThinkPad, and the S6231 or the S7000 series are good models to look at. Personally I like the look of the ThinkPad, it just looks like a tank and says "I mean business", but I understand that it is rather non-inspiring.
