Question:
External HDD?
What is the most bang for the buck external HDD for about $200?
Answer:
Are you looking for huge capacity or portability? I like the notebook drives in an external 2.5" USB 2.0 enclosure for the notebook drive. It's ultra portable and can have decent capacities. Currently 100GB is the limit for notebook drives. But with a device that can fit into your shirt pocket and not require any AC Adapters (just 1 USB cable) it's an excellent mobile storage device.

Rpmpda,
Here's a link to Newegg.com that carries a large variety of these type of enclosures.

Titan0111,
There's a bunch of manufacturers that have external USB drives that offer massive capacities, but from what I've read, they usually only come with a 1 year warranty. I'd recommend buying a new OEM HDD which comes with 3-5years warranty and and external drive cage and pop the drive into the cage. It'll cost about the same as an external HDD, but will give you a longer warranty period. I'd recommend going with a Seagate HDD. They're ULTRA quiet and have a 5 year standard warranty. Talk about sweet!!! [:D] You can get the enclosures from Newegg.com as well as the HDD.

Thanks for the reply ppl. I went out to Best Buy and they told me they don’t carry them any more. So off I went to Frys. They had about a dozen of them for both 3.5" and 2.5" drives. I got one called Sabernet, about as small a case as you can get made of aluminum and panted a mat black. Looks good and worked like a charm! All for only $24.99
