$2500 "professional" gaming laptop

Question:
$2500 "professional" gaming laptop
First off, hi and thanks to the local board community. :)
1) What is your budget?
No more than $2500
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

I am still in college and I am getting into a career of video game design. I'm focused primarily on animation now, but I'm essentially a technical artist. I wont be playing many games on the machine, but I need to show off work I make at the highest settings possible so it needs to be able to run everything.

4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Both.
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
Everything. Has to run the next gen engines (Source/Doom3/Unreal3/FEAR)
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Cost effective is a plus
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Maybe two. Wont spend much time unplugged but would be nice in a pinch.
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
Nope
9) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in?
USA
Screen Specifics
10) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?
Not sure really. I thought they all came in widescreen
11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
e. WSXGA+ - 1680x1050; Wider viewing version of SXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
f. WUXGA - 1920x1200; Wider viewing version of UXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.

12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
Don't care
Build Quality and Design
13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
I'd like a number pad. Don't care what it looks like.
14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
3 years hopefully.. or at least until I get a job which I sure hope isn't 3 years
Notebook Components
15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 160GB?
80 is fine if it's a fast drive
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?
DVD burner a plus
For a video card I prefer Nvidia. Is the GeForce 7950 worth getting? It looked the best, but I don't know much about benchmark stuff when it comes to laptops.
Also I've seen a lot of stuff about DX10 cards. I'm assuming they have not yet made it to laptops?
Thanks for any advice. I've heard good things about Clevo/Sager, but I checked out their websites and they were a little on the difficult side to navigate. I am interested in the cost effectiveness in going through them though.

If you want overkill, the Area-51 m9750 with its SLIed 7950s, 400gb HD and Core 2 Duo is rumored to be coming out at the end of the month. No telling on the price yet. Althrough its preaty certain to say that the Sager is far more price effective and still packs alot a punch.

HP nw9440 or the HP nx9420. They are both very professional looking and have business class tech support. I just got one with a Quadro NVS 510m and its a pretty sweet machine. I posted full specs and some benches . Its not perfect, but for around US$1900 its pretty **** close.
If you are going to be hooking up to an external display there is no DVI out WITHOUT a docking station, but that about it. It also has a PCMCIA slot so if you want run a dedicated audio card its no problem.
I have done any gaming yet so I cant say how much difference the quadro drivers make, but I am going try some modded inf's to run 90 series drivers shortly.
- my 2 cents
