Answer:
Re: Computer Science Student wondering
The Sony SZ looks like a nice choice based on your needs although it will be near the top of your budget.
The HP nc6400 is also worth considering, although it is a bit larger.

Thanks for the tips everyone, i've looked into them and gonna think about it.
Anyone know anything about a Dell e1505. I was fooling around and set up a system with 2gigs ram, 256 mb graphics card, and a 9 cell battery? I read around a bit and the 9 cell battery should get me 4-5+ based on settings.
Answer:
Re: Computer Science Student wondering
well, the e1505 isn't incredibly portable, considering that it is a 15.4" and a little under 7 lb. but it is definitely a good price for what you get.
Answer:
Re: Computer Science Student wondering
Yeah, the e1505 is okay. I used one for a weekend and didn't feel like it was very durable. And it was still heavy and... I wasn't impressed by the screen quality.
I've been impressed with the MBP, and many of our CS students are moving to Mac as they really like to try OS X. And since it's BSD based, it's great to get some experience with some unix work as well. Of course, Parallels is superior to VM Ware (at least in my experience) and cheaper.
Plus, they're just overall great notebooks.
If you want a cheapr notebook though, the Asus looks okay.
Honestly though man, as a fellow college student, don't get anything over 5.5 lbs or so. It'll kill your back quickly when you put a book or two in the bag with it.

Re: Computer Science Student wondering
I do really like the MB and the MBP. The problem is that the MB doesn't have the hardware I want and even with my student discount the MBP is to much money. I was checking out the HP NC6400 and did alitte browsing. Is the HP DV2000t any good? I would probably get the 9-cell battery because i dont like the 12 cell sticking out
Answer:
Re: Computer Science Student wondering
Yeah, the MBP is pretty pricey. But now, you get much more for the price than the previous version.
The $200 discount is decent, but could be a bit better. I hear the DV2000t is decent, but I've always hated HP. I won't buy any of their products anymore.
