Question:
Hey wondering about Acer
I was just wondering if acer build quality is good or not because i don't really hear that many good things about it, and also what about their tech support, are they good or not? What about their durability? Can they last at least 2 years? This is the laptop i'm looking at, feedback will be great.

I see no reason why it can't last two years if you take good care of it. What are you going to do with it?

Re: Hey wondering about Acer
I just ordered this same Aspire, mostly on the experience I had with my previous Acer (Travelmate 800) that I bought ummm when it was released. 4 years ago(?)
Basically, I dragged that thing all around SE Asia. It went with me to Angkor Wat, through Thailand, etc, etc. and it was rugged enough (with common sense caution) for most situations.
I'm a heavy user - geek/writer - and I had absolutely no problems, until the end. It finally gave way 2 months ago. Years of repeated use eventually loosened the screen hinges, and then I guess the connections finally severed. I could probably still get it fixed, but... the Aspire was impossible to resist. :)
Besides, I'd worn off the lettering of the most-used keys. :)

i have mine in a sleeve and i carry it all around on my back from class to class...
to be honest i have abused it; dozens of drops walking over 2 miles every day with it... used over 14 hours a day for 1.3 years
the only problem i had was asthetic the plastic crack a little bit but nothing at all major,
i alwasy loads up everyday.
if you ook below i am going to get another one. go for it amazing specs. quality good, and there support is excellent , they repaired my crack :)

hmm, don't be fooled by the graphics card in that thing, the nVidia "TurboCache" means that the card itself only has about 64 or 128mb's of memory, the rest comes from system memory, check it out first...

I have an Aspire 3000. It has some scratches on back of the lid, nothing major. Don't know where that's from, haven't done anything particularly sever to it.
Also the touchpad is poor quality, the silver finish has completely come off the left click and the scroll-rocker from about one year's use, but not the right click key cos that's not used too much. Also every once in a while the left click makes a weird noise when clicking, then goes away after a bit.
And a load of things get stuck under the keys, but I guess it's like that for all laptops.
