Graphic Designer and DJ Laptop - any help?
Hey everyone, I filled out the FAQ to help with any advice you may have:)
I'm basically wanting a nice looking and functional graphic design laptop that i can have for about 3 years. This will also be used for audio composing and recording through a break out box sound card.
General Questions
1) What is your budget?
I would prefer not to spend more than 1400 canadian

2) What size notebook would you prefer?

3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
photoshop, graphic design, abelton live, recording to an external 7200 rpm hard drive,cubase, reason, occasional gaming.
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
i danno, not a gamer, maybe play stuff like halo occasioanly
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
i like HP and toshiba, acers are cool too, no real preference though
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
i would like at least enough to watch a movie on dvd. 3.5 hours?
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
not at all - no problem

yes, a multi drive that writes fast would be preferable.

I dunno how much teh Macbook Pros are in Canada... but man, it's great.
A ton of music and graphic apps for it.
I love using Ableton on it. Plus it has Logic!!! Anyway, I always think graphic/audio guys should check them out. I'm new to mac, and love it. You're not as likely to have a problem if you're doing a live show as you would with a PC.

Definitely try to get the Macbook Pro, i ve seen most DJ use it on TVs, so there should be something inside that they really need.

but the mac books are out of my price range.
i'm looking currently at the Dell Inspiron
6400 Dual Core T7400
and the dell inspiron 9400 T7200 17" display
i'm wondering how much of a power difference is between the T5500 and the T7400?
