[Europe]Thin and light with power inside

Question:
[Europe]Thin and light with power inside
1 Attachment(s) Greetings !
After having Sony Vaio T350P/L for over a year now I realized that I want something different. Sure, I like Vaio's dimensions and battery power a lot, but small screen (10.6" , 1280x768) and poor performance when I need it started to bother me more than I'm willing to accept.
Now, what do I want ? I'll fill out a questionary but here's in short:
As small as it can be, as light as it can be, with good build quality, yet powerfull enough to be able to run majority of things I throw at him (games included, but not too much).
General Questions
1) What is your budget?
Around 1900 EUR ($2350)
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen

3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
From web browsing to light gaming (BF1942, BF2,some RPGs, etc) but it won't be a replacement for my desktop
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Definitely taking with me, that's the main purpose, to be mobile as much as possible.
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
Yes, I will. I want to be able to play various recent games, but it doesn't have to be on ultra high settings. BF1942, BF2, DungeonSiege II, HL2, some strats, etc.
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
I can take anything as long as it has good build quality like my Sony Vaio T has.
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
From my experience with year of Vaio T usage I won't be needing more than 3 hours but the more the merrier. Modular bay would also be nice but it's not mandatory.
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
I don't mind as long as I get good reviews for particular notebook.
9) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in?
I'm from Croatia, but my sources (apart from my country) also are Germany, Switzerland and Austria (basicaly - European Union).
Screen Specifics
10) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?
Widescreen, please. :)
11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
WXGA or WXGA+ - 1280x768/800 or 1440x900, not a pixel bigger ! ;)
12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
Errrr....Not sure about that. Vaio T has reflective and Compaq Presario I used before had normal screen. I haven't had issues with any of them. I guess both will do fine, but I want screen with good visibility, like my Vaio T has.
Build Quality and Design
13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Looks and stylishness - not that much, but I don't mind paying for good build quality with better materials used.
14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
As soon as possible. As for lasting, at least 1.5-2 years. I had Compaq Presario for 4 years, now Vaio T for almost 1.5 years.
Notebook Components
15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 160GB?
At least 80GB, wouldn't hurt to have even more. 5400RPM at least.
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?
Yes. DVD+/-RW DL
So far, Asus A8Js is my number 1. I wanted W3J but it is not available here where I am at the moment. I've attached small txt file with models that are available to me right away, you might take a look there also but that's not definitive list.
Thank you all in advance ! :)

Re: [Europe]Thin and light with power inside
If you are concerned with gaming and build quality, I would suggest adding the nc8430 to the list. It might be a little heavier than a 14"...but not by much.
If not though...I've heard the ASUS notebooks are pretty high quality so you might want to look there.
I would suggest a X1400 or 7400 graphics card minimum...though you'd probably appreciate a X1600 or 7600 though.

Asus A8Js with a nvidia geforce go 7700 should handle most games well and it fits in 14''!

Re: [Europe]Thin and light with power inside
The Asus A8Js would get my vote; its graphics card is unbeatable for its size. Great quality and it features a higher-resolution display (WXGA+ 1440x900) than most 14" notebooks have.
