Well i start college next year, so it will be used for school.. and i have a real interest in video production ad creative arts. And i am on a real budget so .. payin 1500 would be to hefty. Its just that ive never heard of "Medion" before. but the value is clear

What kind of video card and processor does it come with(the video card is also called a GPU or graphics card) 512 mbs of ram is awfully low, you would have to upgrade it to at least one gig possibly two. I am guessing you are not talking about USD but pounds correct?

That video card is not `excellent`. It`s horrible. You will not be playing games with it. It will severely limit any CAD, video editting, whatever too That CPU is not horrible, but not exactly great either. Memory is sufficient for text editting, surfing etc in XP but doesn`t stand a chance in hell for Vista.

Thanks for that, and would i need to buy Vista? Because i heard something about Microsoft using a "kill-switch" or something to get rid of older operating systems

No, you don`t `need` Vista.
Regardless, I wouldn`t recommend 512MB nowadays. You`re likely to hit the Swap Wall somewhere down the line somehow.
