A little gaming (just 3D flash games) along with video, photo, and sound editing. Lots of browsing the net.

Re: Apple Macbook or Dell XPS m1210?
well, if you were interested in upgrading to vista, it would help to have a dedicated video card to smoothly operate aero glass. in that case, i would go with the dell. if not, macbook is a good choice if you are fine with osx.

Re: Apple Macbook or Dell XPS m1210?
It all depends on Mac OS X or Windows.
Are you a gamer? Do you have lots of Windows software that you can't afford to replace?
Macs aren't good for gaming, because first the MacBook doesn't have a graphics card, and also gaming software for Mac are either released half a year later than their Windows counterparts, or not even released in Mac format.
While the MacBook can run Windows now through Boot Camp, its still ridiculous to spend extra money and pay for Mac software and Mac OS X if you're just going to use Windows on it all day.

Re: Apple Macbook or Dell XPS m1210?
I really like OSX. It's the main selling-point for me in this case.
I do some gaming, but the only game I would be playing is a 3D-based flash game. Should the MB handle that alright?
In response to the applications questions, no. If I need to replace something, I can certainly do it. The only apps that come to mind that would need replacing right now is the MS Office S&T ed. which can easily be bought.
With that being said, are the reccomendations leaning torwards the MB or the m1210?

Re: Apple Macbook or Dell XPS m1210?
I was comparing these two laptops not too long ago and here is my thinking process.
The mb does not have a graphics card...that wont affect you though. With my expirence the mb has a better camera and is very good in video chat. I have been using Windows my whole life and just recently started to use OS X and I love it..that was a plus for me. The Dell does not have DVI like the mb has..only VGA. The mb was also cheaper than m1210 with my configurations.
The Dell on the other hand has a graphics card but again that really doesnt matter in this case. The Dell has some ports and slots that the mb doesnt have: express card, and 2 usb port difference. Judging from the computer-notebook.com reviews, the Dell has slightly longer battery life. It also hase little things like the switch to find a wireless connection while the comp is off.
Thats the way I looked at it. It all depends on what is important to you. If I were you I would choose the MB because you like I love OS X. Also you dont game so you wont need the graphics card.
