Re: Gaming Laptop....
Well since you put down "any" for price range I'm going to suggest the windowpc sting 517D. That thing is such a beast, it will handle bf2142 like NO ONES business. http://www.widowpc.com/2006/05/sting_517m_gami.php I think someone did a review of it on computer-notebook.com as well.

Re: Gaming Laptop....
RockDirect laptops are great as posted for gaming, take a look at the Xtreme CTX (which is the same laptop as the WidowPC Sting 517D mentioned above; it is also known as the Sager NP5760 here in the States so you can check our Sager forum for that).

Re: Gaming Laptop....
Since everyone has gone forth to suggest 17 inchers, ill go towards the other screen size that was preferred :p
For a 15'4 inch laptops you would have a few choices as well. Although these will not have the same amount of power as the bigger 17 inch ones mentioned above, they'll give you more portability while still giving very commendable performance. A few to look out for would be the Acer Ferrari 5000 (although its pretty over priced in the U.K) and the Acer Travelmate 8210/8215. You could also take a look at the HP nc8430 if it is available there. There are quite a few other 15'4 inch notebooks which are based on teh Asus S96j/Z96j series such as this one

You could also take a look at the LG S1 if it is available over there. :)

Re: Gaming Laptop....
The RockDirect CTX is the king of gaming laptops. It is also known as the Sager NP5760 but is based on the Clevo M570U in case you want to look around for the best deal.
From your FAQ, though, it doesn't seem like you need super-gaming-power, so I will also suggest you take a look at Zepto.com. Their 2425W (Compal HEL80) and 6615WD are worth looking at for 15.4" gaming systems.
The above-mentioned HP nc8430 is also definitely worth a look.
Good luck!
