Usage wise, I am looking for a desktop replacment that is good at everything overall from gaming to multimedia that will last me for a good long while before upgrading hardware. This will also bbe my notebook through college as well. Currently I was looking at the Alienware Area 51 m9750 from recommendations, research, and overall opinion on Alienware which led to me choosing this specific one. I was wondering I anyone could give me some advice one weither or not this would be the best choice for what I am looking for. I am willing to go to around 4000 dollars for the notebook but no more then that. If someone could tell if these are good specifications or any recommendation on them or even refering to a cheaper(anything that is cheaper in price but still can fit my needs is welcome and sought for), but still effective laptop please fill me in. Any advice or critcism is very welcome.

i would take a look at the sager 5760.....also, if gaming is your main concern, you could save a few hundred bucks by sticking with the t7200....

I agree with the Clevo M570U (a.k.a. Sager 5760).
Currently, its the best 17" gaming notebook for the money, without rip-off pricings as seen with others in its class (Dell XPS, etc..).
Check out the Clevo Guide for resellers info.

With that kind of budget, I'd say get the Clevo M570RU, and upgrade to DX10 graphics when that becomes available. If you want better performance (though with less mobility), you could consider getting the new Clevo D900c.

Alienware is overpriced in my opinion. The Sager offers better value. Unless of course you have a trust fund and don't care.

Ok thanks for the input....so would picking the m9750 a bad choice then since you guys suggested another laptop...I perfer Alienware, HP, or Dell at this point...mostly HP and Alienware though. I hope you realize that all of these OEM brands [as well as every other notebook OEM] do NOT make their own notebooks, they just re-brand(re-badge) them.
Alienware re-brands from a handful of ODMs:
- Clevo
- Uniwill
- Arima
etc...
Dell and HP gets their notebooks manufactured by mainly:
- Quanta
- Compal
So you see that "notebook brands" is just a myth and should not really be taken too seriously. Its the build quality and components within a notebook that should be looked at [as well as the price for those on a budget]... as well as the service and support from the vendor or reseller.

If youve got that kind of cash I think the alienware 9750 is the way to go personally. Id like one.
If you do want a better value gettign the sager 5670 for around 2100$ with only one gpu is probably better. I mean are you paying 1000$ for sli gpu at that point? What is it worth to you?

Yes I have heard about the whole thing with Alienware HP and Dell using the "shells" but that really isn't a major concern to me...
Okay so now I am also looking at the Dell XPS M1210...to reitterate I am looking at a good all around computer that will last me awhile...I will do some gaming on it but nothing crazy in the future...just something that will run Supreme Commander, Battlefield 2142, and later this year Spore....and then I don't plan to touch any more PC games besides those for a good long while...I will mostly be using it for mulitmedia like music and movies along with normal word processing and video editing for animation/video production calls next year....based on that...amoung Dell...HP...and Alienware computers....which brand would you guys recommend for these needs?
