Buyer's Remorse

Question:
Buyer's Remorse
A few weeks ago, I kind of jumped the gun and ordered a T60 to take advantage of some great deals. Some days ago, my order was pushed back a week, but I figured the build quality I kept hearing of and the price was worth it to wait. However, my ship date has again been pushed back to early June. I need the laptop by atleast mid-june for a trip. With the way my order has been handeled, I am afraid that I won't get it in time. I have been looking at other laptops to see if I could get better deals. Should I trust Lenovo to get me my laptop, or should I look elsewhere?

I've read some good reviews of this company. The price is a bit higher, but the warranty looks really tempting.
I bought the T60 because of what people said of the build quality. However, after browsing some more, I am starting to get feelings of buyer's remorse. Can anybody offer their suggestions? Also, would you suggest I look at any other brands/sellers?
1) What is your budget?
1000-1300
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
3) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in.
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
I am not partial to any brand. However, customer service and build quality is always a concern.
5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
School stuff( writing, internet), Some games, graphic design
6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
I may take it to only 1 class per day, but it will mostly be on my desk.
7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
The Sims 2, The Movies, and I hope to play Spores when it comes out
8) How many hours of battery life do you need?
I would like about 3 hours. I will be near a power source most of the time.
9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
I don't mind.
10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
I have enjoyed using XP so far, but I am willing to try Vista if xp is impossible to get. Mac seems ok, too. I never tried Linux before.
Screen Specifics
11) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?
Widescreen
12) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?
any.
Widescreen
d. WXGA or WXGA+ - 1280x768/800 or 1440x900; Wider viewing version of XGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
e. WSXGA+ - 1680x1050; Wider viewing version of SXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
f. WUXGA - 1920x1200; Wider viewing version of UXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?
I prefer matte, but I could go either way.
Build Quality and Design
14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
No.
15) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
I can wait till july or august. I would like the laptop to last 4+ years.
Notebook Components
16) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 200GB?
80-160 GB if possible. Is buying an external harddrive better than getting more hard drive space in the laptop?
17) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?
DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive

Re: Buyer's Remorse
You could ask Lenovo if there is a particular part that is holding that is holding your order up then ask to change if there is. Lenovo has a rep for being slow, some of it earned. From a quality perspective, a thinkpad will be superior to the others.

Re: Buyer's Remorse
What would you say I could skimp on? I think I read somewhere that the screens were having trouble? Is there a lot of difference between the one I chose and the other type they offer?
Answer:
Re: Buyer's Remorse
You should ask them what the part is that is holding up your order. If it's the screen, that's a harder issue since the screen is hard to upgrade and you selected the high resolution screen which won't be offered on the S96j or dv6000. I think the first step would be to ask. It's a bit over your budget, but something like the HP nc8430 might be worth a look. It will also offer good quality and support. It will get you the much better x1600 GPU. The Compal HEL80 is worth consideration as well.
