Could you complete the FAQ for us? That would be very helpful to us for evaluating your needs. By "large screen" I assume you mean 17" but can't be sure.

Re: Artist need help finding notebook
Your options include the Dell Inspiron E1705 and the HP Pavilion dv9000t. The Dell has the more powerful graphics card. However the HP has better build quality, and its graphics card, though not as powerful as the Go7900 on the Dell, will still run all the latest games out there.
The HP Pavilion dv9000t also has a separate number pad, as well as an option for dual hard disk drives, both of which are quite useful features, in my opinion.

I dont think you will be able to buy a 19 inch system for below 2000$. The ones Jetstar recommended are probably the best for a sub 2000$ price range. Maybe also take a look at the customizable Sager 5760 and see if u can tweak it up the way you want it. www.rjtech.com or www.powernotebooks.com may be good places to take a look :)

Re: Artist need help finding notebook
I was checking out the sager 5950, it looks really nice, but it is the only laptop I have found with a 19" display except the alienware which I would like to avoid. Does anyone know of other 19" notebooks?

To be honest I think someone in your situation should consider buying a desktop, and using a cheap $700 laptop for traveling. I'm not sure if you absolutely have to have the computer at the site, but the prospect of carrying around 15 pounds of 19" laptop-ness doesn't appeal very much to me.

I definatly see what you are saying, Im only interested in getting it as a laptop because I will be in various locations, but I wont be walking around with it much so the size/weight isnt that big of a problem.
