T60p or T61
Hey guys, Should i get a T60p or T61. I play occasional games, but for the most part I just want a fast system with lots of space that will last me 4 years. I list the configurations below. Please let me know which system you would get. This is going to be my college laptop

Hmm, both are very good really.lol
If you're looking for battery power, and you're on the go quite a lot, the T60P would handle your type of choice.
If you're looking for speed, and you're into the latest processors, then go with the T61. The T61 is armed with the latest Santa Rosa Technology, which is very power and energy efficient, and runs more smoothly and quietly than the Core 2 duo(T60P).
The graphics cards, i'm not too sure about those, all I know is that they both can play pretty well. I'm sure other NBR members here can go into the details of the graphics cards.
However, I recommend that you wait for this summer, (June-August), because the T61P is coming out!
Then, you could officially compare the T60P VS the T61P. I heard that the T61P will have 2x the power of the graphics card than the T60P's graphics card. So if you wait for this summer, then it'll be totally worth it.

Thanks a lot, but i cant wait until the summer. I need the laptop in 3 weeks for summer college, luckily I have talked with a lenovo rep who promised to get me my system in 3 weeks. So guys, which one is it, and i have about 100 more dollars to add onto each system if anyone could suggest another upgrade.

If the nVidia graphics card on the T61 is direct x 10 capable (i'm not sure if it is), then i'd go with the t61, because incoming applications will have direct x 10, sooner or later.
If the T61 is not direct x 10 capable, then I'd recommend going with the T60P for your type of work.
Bottom Line- Both laptops are very good. Personally, I'd go with the T60P, but,that's just my opinion.
I'm also going for the T61, due to because it has the newest Santa Rosa technology.

Is the 15.4 inch vrs 14.1 inch a huge difference really?? I think either or would be great for watching a movie or playing a little counter strike\

The T61 has media card readers and intel turbo memory which i hear is a huge thing for vista, anyone else know anything about intel turbo making a big difference/

hey,
I am also between t60p and t61 (or any upgraded,don't mind wait).
My problem is the s-video output. I use it almost everyday and since it's not possible to connect to a TV with another way, it is really important. Will it reapear in t models?
Secondly I work with photographs alot and I was first if there is going to be a 4:3 screen and secondly if the IPS screens will reapear...

You can count out getting a T61 in 2 to 3 weeks they are all backed up check out this link:
So, if you need it that soon go T60p, just make sure you are comfortable carrying a laptop that size around campus, personally I do not like to carry a machine that big that is why I opted for the 14.1", but agian I know plenty of people who don't mind it....just a matter of personal preference

I think the Quadro NVS 140M is based on the 8400M. Not sure though. Don't take that too seriously until someone else can actually confirm it.
