Laptop for Mom, HP Dv6000t best choice?

Question:
Laptop for Mom, HP Dv6000t best choice?
My mom needs a laptop, preferably $1000 or less. She obviously wants the best she can get for her money. She wants a big hard drive, like 120-160Gigs, 2 Megs of ram, and a good DVD burner. She wants to store a lot of pictures and video and be able to create DVD videos.
The HP DV6000t seems like a good fit for her budget. There are a couple of choices I'm not sure about though. Would the Celeron M 440 be ok, or would she want to get the dual core T2080 or even the Core Duo T2350? She's trying to cut corners where she can. If pictures and video is all she is doing, which could she get away with without a significant performance hit?
Also, based on what she wants to do, is the Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 ok, or would it be money well spent to get the 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400? She definitely wont be doing any gaming.
Also, based on that info, is there any other laptops with similar features that might be just as good and perhaps less expensive? This one seems reasonable, but I want to explore options.
Any help would be appreciated. I got my Asus s96j last summer based on information here and I couldn't be happier. My mom doesn't need quite that, but I trust ya'lls advice. Thanks
Dave

If she is making movies then celeron is off the list. Too slow, Core Duo could work but it would really be better to get the core 2 duo and then do the ram upgrade aftermarket. This will save a lot of money as the processor upgrade will cost some more, but the memory upgrade being done aftermarket is a lot cheaper so that would absorb some of the cost. If she is not doing gaming then integrated graphics is the way to go, both cost wise and battery wise ( a little bit )

As noted definitely do NOT get the Celeron. I would suggest the Core Duo T2350 if you want to cut prices but ideally get a Core 2 Duo, which is more powerful per-clock than the Core Duo.
Make sure you check the RAM DEALS thread - it is much cheaper to upgrade RAM yourself.
You can go with the base video card (integrated), the only thing you need the dedicated one for is gaming and you are not going that.
For the hell of it you should wait until tomorrow and see what the prices on the Inspiron 1520 look like. It's the replacement for the ever-popular E1505.

If she is going to be working a lot with video and graphics and she perfers higher resolutions as oppose to standards....your best bet is to go with a dedicated video card. This way the graphics will run smoothly, especially with Vista. You don't have to go anything fancy, as long as the video card as it's own memory.

Thanks for the responses! I realize that I could save money by upgrading ram aftermarket, but from what I can tell, the HP DV6000t either comes with 2 512meg sticks for the 1 gig version. Wouldn't I have to buy 2 1 gig sticks still if I wanted 2 gigs of Ram? It would be nice if they put in just a 1 gig stick, then I would only need 1 more. Maybe I'm not understanding what ya'll are saying. Can you clarify how to save money on the ram?
She won't be working with graphics. She records different types of artistic techniques for painting, woodcarving, etc. and she likes to edit them and burn them on DVDs to pass out as instructional material in her classes. I'm guessing the intergrated would be ok for that, right?
It sounds like she might as well go with the Core 2 Duo, I'll see if she will go for that.
Are there any other brands she should consider besides Dell? Any custom made jobs or anything?
Thanks for the input.

Also, what happened to Dells customization ability? I just looked up the new 1520 and you can't choose your HD size or the amount of ram you want or the graphics card or anything. Also, is just 1 gig of ram really sufficient? It seems to still be the norm even though it seems most people recommend 2 gigs for windows vista.

Dude search ebay. I bought this hp dv 6000 series laptop for my mom from a reputable seller. It is for 700$ with all things (shipping taxes etc) included and is brand new.
Processor Type: Core 2 duo t2080
Ram: 1 gb
hd: 120 gb
optical drive: dvd writer
O/s: vista home premium
How good a deal is this one because i think this deal was sick.

hussain - That seems like a decent price, but you can buy from HP directly and get the HP DV6000t with what you mentioned for $800 with free shipping. Looks like you saved $100 assuming you didn't have to pay tax or shipping.
About the T2080, isn't it just a dual core, not a Core 2 Duo? I'm no expert, but HP lists the T2080 as just a dual core.

I had a friend that ordered the Razr phone when it first came out on Ebay for 500.00. The Razr was never sent and Paypal only refunded 179.00. I would never buy any electronics device from Ebay.
